Micro-Macro Expedition Design
Independent Study
I am a senior at EPS pursuing a Senior Thesis with a focus on developing the necessary skills for self-lead expeditions. I have embarked on month-long adventures kayaking through the San Juans and mountaineering in the North Cascades. I plan on continuing these outdoor expeditions, and this study helps me take the initiative to bring all my ideas and dreams down to earth.
Mountain Mindset
During my mountaineering expedition, Dilip, our fearless leader, always reminded us of the key principles of the mountain mindset: keep an open mind, stay in the present, and don’t be complacent, bubbas. There are harsh conditions to test your limits, but learning how to adapt to these challenges is all part of the fun. The best expeditions end with smelly boots and bruised legs. I love the spirit of expeditions and not only hope to continue my own adventures, but help others find this same feeling out in nature.
